pro med instruments (PMI) is an energetic and ambitious company in the medical device industry. It was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in Freiburg, Germany – one of the technology centers for fine precision mechanical engineering. Since 1998 the DORO® product line has been marketed worldwide. In 2003 we opened our subsidiary in Florida, USA. PMI stands for know-how, innovation, quality and service. Due to our experience and the mix of well-proven products and revolutionary innovations, we have become the market leader in many countries.

Our core products are cranial stabilization and retractor systems for neurosurgical applications. In addition, our product portfolio offers a wide range of accessories, customized products as well as a distinct selection of non-stick bipolar forceps. Our network of international distributors was chosen because of their high level of service, their focus on neurosurgery and their expertise.

Developing and achieving strategies & visions 

We use our wide experience in the field of neurosurgery and the close cooperation with surgeons and hospitals worldwide, to develop solutions which facilitate the work of surgeons and their OR teams. Some of PMI's innovations are neurosurgeon-inspired designs such as the McCue Open Halo Retractor System or the J-Arm for unobstructed access to the surgical field, the Multi-Purpose Skull Clamp suitable for children and adults, the only completely radiolucent MRI-SAFE Skull Clamp for a digital interference-free intra-operative imaging and the Articulating Arm with smooth operation and precise positioning required for image-guided navigation, brain biopsy and neuroendoscopy.
